Sure, trying to find him in-store was hard, but that's why NECA offered pre-orders off of their store. Overall, Metalhead is a pretty great figure and definitely one to add to your collection. The final accessory is a laser blaster, and it fits into a slot in the chest covered by the panels, and there's a little hole to stick the wire in. It plugs in the arms better than the drill, and the head on it is hinged as well to help pose it flat on the ground.
The vacuum comes from Metalhead's other appearance in the show, Big Bug Blunder, when Donatello had him clean the lair. The drill is a nice inclusion for combat scenes, though the post doesn't fit on the arms very well, at least not the right one. Other arm plug-ins include a drill and a vacuum. He doesn't come with any accessories to hold in the gripping hands, but they're still here in case you want him to hold any of the turtles' weapons. Moving on to the accessories, Metalhead has two extra pairs of hands to go with the relaxed ones he's wearing: a pair of fists and a pair of gripping hands.
The ball hips are a welcome addition on this line, as they allow for smoother movement without sacrificing any of the range the swivel/hinge hips have. The elbow hinges are on the upper arms instead of the forearms, meaning that the swivel is on the forearms, but the bicep swivels make up for that. There's ball-joints at the head and hips, swivel/hinge shoulders, elbows, wrists, upper knees, and ankles, swivel biceps, waist, and thighs, and hinges jaw and lower knees. Metalhead is loaded with articulation in addition to the moving chest panels and switch I mentioned earlier. Still, the paint is done well on the figure, and he looks passable. The grenades on his belt are a good example, as paint rub-off is rather noticeable from the sides, and there's some bleed in a few other areas on the figure. However, there a few spots where paint could be improved. Like with the other cartoon TMNT figures, NECA gave Metalhead painted-on outlines and shading, and it's all done very neatly. Of course, he was taller than them in the cartoon as well, though how much bigger he was than them varied from scene to scene. Metalhead stands about 6 1/2" tall, making him a whole inch taller than the Turtles. All in all, the geometric design of the character is replicated well here, with plenty of small details. There's a switch sculpted on the back, and it's also posable. The chest panels on him hinge open, and there's a good amount of details sculpted on the interior. Looking at the figure itself and comparing him to the box art, he looks very accurate to how he does in-show. It's a fifth panel window box, of course, and everything inside in held in place with plastic ties, so have some scissors on hand. It looks great and at first glance you may actually mistake it for an old tape. The packaging on Metalhead here may be the best I've ever seen on a NECA figure: it's based off of the old FHE VHS tapes. Last year around the summer, he was made available as a pre-order for a short time on the NECA store, and they all shipped out last month. One of the better releases last year was the first "ultimate" in the TMNT line, which is Metalhead. Thankfully, this year is showing an improvement in distribution, and finding them has gotten a lot easier, at least for me it seems. Those who grew up with the original Saturday morning cartoon were blessed with plenty of Target-exclusive figures, though not so much with the distribution of them.
